The subject for this month is a topic that has been commonly associated with the month of April. It is an important and reoccurring feature throughout multiple religions, that is, the concept of rebirth or reincarnation. My brother, Bishop Andrew will cover in his video, the origins of Easter and how it evolved into what we see today as well as some more of his own perspective on rebirth. The part about the easter bunny is personally my favorite portion. Check out his video if you have time.

First off, yes, I believe in reincarnation, rebirth, and soul mates. The concept of reincarnation continues to evolve through my experiences as I constantly gather knowledge and the understanding of different spiritual perspectives or practices. So, I will continue to develop and challenge my own understanding of this reality while on this path of enlightenment. We should begin by considering ourselves as three distinct parts, all which require equal balance. The body, the mind, and the soul. With that, rebirth happens on all three levels not just the level of the soul. For example, your mindset could change at any moment and with that your perspective changes as well. When that happens, you have allowed yourself to reincarnate the way you think. Thus, becoming a new person and being reborn. Be open to new information, challenge your understanding of reality and let your perspectives evolve with you. Let your mind be a phoenix of potentials and understanding, reborn out of the ashes of your old perspectives.

When it comes to the reincarnation of the soul, I believe that we do live multiple lives and find our consciousness throughout history manifesting in an ultimate attempt to gain understanding, knowledge, or experiences. So, that ultimately the soul may grow as a product of the resulting experiences. It is as though we have certain checks that we are attempting to mark off as we are experiencing reality, but these hidden challenges are just that, hidden. But, not completely, the key here is our emotions and desires are an attempt (by the soul) to reach for these goals. The resulting satisfaction, gratitude, and fulfillment are indications that you are on the right path and implementing your souls’ aspirations. The pull that you feel toward an idea, concept, or craft should be noted and not ignored. Let that sense of fulfillment or “rightness” in our decisions guide us down the path of enlightenment. I believe that our souls can check off a lot of boxes in a single lifetime, potentially all of them if there is an open mindset. One that allows for continual growth to be had with every experience and encounter. As we gather these experience points, we get to choose how they apply to our reality. I believe that the astrological signs both eastern and western are a symbolic representation and expression of this concept. Each soul generally goes through these different expressions on its path toward enlightenment. I do not believe that any one step, sign, or symbol is placed further on the path of enlightenment but instead was where your soul found itself the most suitable expression or manifestation of itself.

Soul mates are something that I firmly find grounding in myself but not in the way that is maintained by the whole of society. We exist and can be thought of as a soundwave. Certain harmonics or soundwaves harmonize with others amazingly and some only mildly harmonize together. Others in fact clash or mix about as effectively as oil and water. This is in essence how we interact with the people around us on a regular basis. We get along well with some people and utterly clash with others. We encounter soul mates throughout our lives in various forms taking on different relationships while on their own paths. We exist in a sort of grouping of soul mates that can be expressed very simply with a diagram. The image below shows just what I mean, by my understanding we exist with an unknown number of soul mates that we encounter throughout our lives in different relationships through various people, family, and friends. You could potentially find soul mates in anyone whether family or friend. Though, that may not have any weight on this concept only that they may be. So, in other words I don’t believe that we live a life that one person is the only true match for our souls. The thing is our souls grow and change over time so we must realize that we may shift in and out of a harmonizing frequency with some people but shift to harmonize with others. I think not only can we harmonize with many people, but those same people can also harmonize together. This is not in the sexual sense but in a sense of deep connection, love, or understanding. We find connection and love in many forms and in many ways. These people are by my understanding are our soul mates. If you’ve ever wondered why your boyfriend or girlfriend, you feel you are SO compatible with, but is compatible with absolutely no one in your family. That may be because they do not have compatible frequencies, but you do. Another important concept attached to soul mates is the unfortunate and unforeseen loss of your “soul mate”. If soul mates were exclusive to one person than we may never find happiness if that one person is never found or found but then lost due to dire circumstances. We are not alone in our travel and expression of our soul’s manifestation and only limit ourselves to being alone by choice. If you choose to be alone deciding the one is no where to be found, you know where you will find them… no where. Look around at those close to you. I bet the vast majority of you will know exactly who those people are and who they are not, simply by looking around. My wife pointed out to me, a long time ago, when I first told her what I thought about soul mates. She stated, by your understanding, we are not destined to be together. I told her, that she was right that does in fact illude to that exact conclusion. I told her that there was one important caveat to this conclusion and that was that everyday we choose each other. No one or thing is forcing our love. It is as real as it could ever be and I would rather get up everyday knowing that I chose her.

Reincarnation of the body happens in two main ideas and that comes with the rebirth of your soul manifesting into a new expression on its path to enlightenment or the more conscious effort transforming yourself on this physical plane of reality. I can personally stand behind this idea, I at one point after a dark area in my life was very unhealthy and was very overweight. I felt like I was dying on a regular basis. I started researching whether people as big as I was could ever get back into the shape, especially with the ailments that I was suffering with. I found a few people in my search and convinced myself that wow, it may be potentially possible. Well, guess what, it is possible. I went from being incredibly unhealthy with every ache and pain you could imagine to what you see today. I did not want to exist in a life where I had little ability to participate in the lives of my children. With that idea in my mind, I worked at changing my lifestyle to fit what I knew to be healthy. So, I had to let go of my preconceptions of what was healthy because it obviously wasn’t working. I started building a new identity of healthy mannerisms through my research but more importantly my experiences of what did or did not work. I generally knew what choices were healthy versus which were not but the choice to stand behind those beliefs with action are what made the difference. We can sit around and think about healthy choices and create a sense of delusion that we are making them regularly. In the end if you are not getting the results that you wish, or taking the steps to be the person you really envision, then it may be time to make a change. I promise you that it is possible to see that person in the mirror one day.

I hope you enjoyed the post and found something to aide you in your experience of this reality and on the path of enlightenment. Remember, focus on what you want in your reality and your heart will guide you that direction. One day we WILL all find enlightenment and awaken to our true potential. Thank you for joining me as I explore the meaning of life, reality, and spirituality while on this road to enlightenment.

Free Your Will

What’s your Story?

So, off on a new venture into the realm of spirituality and human consciousness. I hope you find the time to join me on the path to enlightenment. This was a topic my brother and I discussed over and over delving further and further into the concept of free will and how it effects a person’s day to day life.  What is free will and why does it matter? Free will = choice. There is not really an easier way to define or explain the concept other than that alone. Outside of the context of spirituality, free will is still defined by the ability to act with your own discretion or preference. Though, in the context of spirituality, there are many perspectives to be considered and one such perspective that often is overlooked is the perspective of God themselves.

Many people are familiar with the concept of God bestowing humans with free will. The will to make decisions and choices on our own, no matter how intelligent or not those choices may seem to others, the choice was yours and yours alone. I have heard many times that I was “made” or “had” to do something but when you stop and think about that thing that “made” you act or the reasoning behind why you “had” to do it, you realize that it was a choice. Did you have to get up for work this morning? Did you have to watch the latest TV program? Did someone make you pick up your room? Were you forced into eating unhealthy food? Did you have to have just one more drink? Well, the answer to these questions can seem rather complicated with lots of underlying reasoning behind why this or why that. But let me point out something. You can stop reading this post right now. Nothing is preventing you from clicking off and finding some other object to focus your attention on. You in fact do not have to get up in the morning, you could stay in bed all day if you wanted. When someone asks you to do something like clean your room? It is a request and the action that follows is a choice. How you come to make the choice isn’t the point this time. The fact is, it was your choice to perceive the situation to feel forced or obligated. Instead of thinking and saying we “have to do something” or “there making me do this” we can start shifting that perspective to one that no longer carries the weight of obligation but instead motivation and determination. So, we can say “I’m excited to get my stuff organized”, “I really enjoy getting to live in a clean and organized area”. By accepting and understanding that we have a choice, and that choice is controlled by nothing other than our own thoughts and intention is key in moving forward in our day-to-day lives and on the road to enlightenment. By now you have probably started considering what it looks like to have no free will?

Ultimately, that is what I began to consider next. Well, people like to talk and joke about NPC theory or elaborate on the concept that few people in the world are real and the others are essentially just base programing. When we live day to day stuck in a world outside of our control, manipulated by work, life, or other obligations we choose to be just that. Pick whatever term fits best for you, but nonetheless we would all be NPC’s, automatons, or programed beings with essentially no power or control to change the lives’ we are living. If we make the choice to let the environment determine the context of our reality than we choose to give our power to that reality. Instead let your power become your choice, your action, and your thoughts. Let your intentions speak through everything you do.

Humanity was given the ability to do WHATEVER they want with this thing called free will. So, how do people still find themselves blaming these higher powers for their lacks, inabilities, and unrealized dreams. When instead the real power to make these choices and determinations has been with us this whole time. In fact, I would argue, since the origin of humanity itself, but why does that matter?

Well, it means, that we at the very least, should probably recognize what that implies for God. So, humanity can take a step back and stop holding God accountable for things out of their control. This is an important concept that will rewrite your perspective moving forward in life. The moment the choice was made that humanity was to be given free will was the moment that changed everything. God gave away the power and ability to control humanity. Why this is important is because it means that from the moment you are born to the moment you die God has no ability to manipulate your life. WAIT…? Giving humanity free will also gave away the ability to influence and cast favor upon someone because by casting favor upon someone, means you are influencing there free will and the free will of others. Which some find rather disheartening but in fact it is quite the opposite. The reasoning is rather simple behind this concept, if God had the ability in any way to manipulate or control anything in your life than guess what… you don’t have a free will anymore. This also means and can be concluded that sickness, death, and even natural disasters are out of the control of Gods divine intervention. This is incredibly important because we find ourselves blaming God for not answering our prayers. It would not matter whether you were the lowest beggar, or the hierarchy of nobility, God could not interfere in your life. So, answering your prayers both will and won’t happen because it already did and didn’t ever happen. If your still following, God gave you the power, the power of choice, the power of will, but we are the limiters of that power. You were already given the power to answer every prayer you will ever have, the answer is your free will, your determination, and your belief.

God did something more than just giving humanity free will and choice that day. God made something more than just a being. We are made in the image of God, gifted with the power of free will, allowed to control our own destiny without potential manipulation, and the ability to create limitless potentials. God gave humanity not just free will but divinity itself. We create worlds, life, and break the boundaries of potential on a daily basis. We are capable of everything imaginable but currently limited by belief. It has always been about belief in ourselves and our true potential! The power is in you and has been the whole time. It is when we find the ability to have true belief beyond all doubt that we find power in ourselves and our future. Have you ever wondered why in some of the movies and legends; the hero is contending with not only great feats of wonder but also defying the fates?

If everyone had a predetermined destiny that was controlled by fate, then would effort be necessary in your life and future. Would you need to have any purpose or drive whatsoever? Personally, I find destiny just a method of telling you that you something is impossible or impossible for others to achieve. Destiny has become an excuse for lack of effort and a means of discounting achievements. Believing in destiny does not lead to a life of fulfillment or happiness only blame and envy of others because we choose to believe that we are not capable of such feats and destined for the futures we are living. Say that you just scored an “A” on an exam or impressed your boss in an interview. We give away our power when we fail to acknowledge the truth behind fate. That truth is, there is no fate, nor are we destined. I own my accomplishments and the work I put into them. I know the dedication it took to push through every struggle and come out the other side. I will not choose to downplay my accomplishments by giving them to fate and destiny. I control my fate and write my destiny. God gave us the ability to create our own destiny through our belief and determination. We can be and do anything we want, that was kind of the point. You can choose to beg on the street, save the world, become Billionaires, or the even next messiah. With free will all that is left in securing the future of your dreams is the determination to see it through and the belief in your own limitless potential.

I hope you found a few useful tools that you can add to your repertoire. Thank you for joining me as I explore the meaning of life, reality, and spirituality while on the road to enlightenment. Now, before I end, ask yourself one final question. If you were shown the path to enlightenment, would you take it? Or an even better question is, if you were handed the tools to create anything possible, given no restrictions. What would you create?

January: What is the Mind?

In the early 1600’s a philosopher, Rene Descartes prompted questions about, what the mind was and how it connects to the body. The concept is called mind-body dualism. His conclusion was that the mind existed outside of the body. Summed in one his famous quotes, “I think, therefore I am”. Do you think that there is something like the "mind", which is separate from the brain? Or does mind simply = brain function? This is a concept that I have long pondered and considered myself, I came up with an idea accounting for as many of the variables in which each theory was defined. It was hard for me to say that our mind doesn’t exist outside of our brain, especially since pinpointing and understanding how the “mind” actually works is still a mystery to science. Even with all the developments into AI and computer hardware, which is largely based off human memory concepts and neuroscience, little has yet to shed light fully onto what gives humans a mind/consciousness. One of the most concerning variables was, how do you explain brain damage as it relates to the mind? As we all know, head trauma and brain damage can change how a brain functions, ultimately who you “are” changes. Yet, what could explain that change if your mind didn’t live inside of your brain, but instead outside of it? What if, your brain worked as more of an antenna or receiver of your mind/consciousness, versus actually housing the mind in its entirety? If our consciousness was something that existed outside of brain, it would make sense to me that our bodies and brain are the receivers of this consciousness. So, if we think of ourselves like a radio and our brain the antenna, we pick up and relay our “mind” through this interaction. Our brain receives and interprets the signals as our “mind”. This idea gives possible explanations to why the function of your body and brain effects the connection to the mind. If your radio (the body) become damaged, the output may not be as effective or as strong as the actual incoming signal (the mind). To have optimal output, the condition of the radio must be maintained to operate effectively. This idea explains why our bodies need a healthy diet and exercise to operate and perform at the level in which we can effectively carry out the goal of our mind. The brain goes by those same guidelines, if the antenna (the brain) becomes damaged, the signal will not be effectively received regardless of how operable the body may still be. This concept could explain why you see changes in a person and why the world is perceived differently after function of the brain has changed. The signal is still being received but are all the same parts of the brain receiving and interpreting the signal, in turn those changes affect how that person’s mind and consciousness operate.

The way that I define the mind is often synonymously with consciousness, and I similarly often conceptualize it as the same thing. This to me, is our personality, our focus, the spotlight controlling our perceptual attention. It’s what allows humans to interpret, question, and perceive. Our minds separate us each from one another making us each unique to how we perceive the world around us. It’s what defines thought and understanding.

Next Month, I will be looking into what it means to have “free will”.  I hope you all enjoy the first of many posts questioning reality, consciousness, and spirituality. My goal is to give you the tools and knowledge to manifest your reality on the road to enlightenment. Remember every potential is possible and love is eternal.
